Torgide ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the Torgide mobile app or website (collectively, the "Service"). By using Torgide, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Location Data

Torgide is a location-based app. To show you nearby spots and let you pin new ones, we request access to your device's location. We collect:

  • Precise location — used in-app to center the map and surface nearby spots. We do not store your real-time location on our servers.
  • Pin coordinates — when you add a spot, the location you choose is stored as part of that public pin.

You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. Some features (nearby discovery) will not work without it.

Account Information

If you create an account, we collect your email address and a display name. You may optionally add a profile photo. We use this to identify you as the creator of spots you pin and to send you account-related emails.

Content You Submit

When you add a spot, we store the name, description, coordinates, photos, category, and any tips you include. This content is public and visible to all Torgide users.

Usage Data

We automatically collect basic usage information including device type, operating system version, app version, and anonymized interaction events (e.g. screens viewed, searches performed). This data is used solely to improve the Service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Torgide Service
  • Display spots near your location on the map
  • Attribute spots and reviews to your account
  • Send transactional emails (e.g. password reset, account verification)
  • Detect and prevent abuse, spam, or fraudulent activity
  • Understand how users interact with the app to improve it

We do not sell your personal data or use it for targeted advertising.

3. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except:

  • Service providers — trusted vendors who help us operate the Service (e.g. cloud hosting, analytics). They are contractually prohibited from using your data for any other purpose.
  • Legal obligations — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Torgide or its users.
  • Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may transfer to the acquiring entity under the same protections described here.

Public content you submit (spot names, descriptions, photos, coordinates) is visible to all users of the Service and may be indexed by search engines.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate operational purposes (e.g. fraud prevention).

Public spots you have pinned may remain visible after account deletion unless you explicitly delete them before closing your account.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls on our databases. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your Torgide account.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Portability — receive your data in a portable format
  • Objection — object to certain processing activities

7. Children's Privacy

Torgide is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service uses OpenStreetMap tiles for map rendering. OpenStreetMap is operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation under their own Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify registered users via email or an in-app notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
